It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Aida Abou-Arraj Racy the morning of November 8th in Montreal. She was 85.

Aida had an undeniable love for life, family and friends. Her great cooking skills, her love of good food, arak and classic Lebanese music never faded. She had always this great joy that shone through in her voice, in her laughter and in her kindness and generosity to those around her. Indeed, her warmth was infectious and she always greeted friends and family the Lebanese way, with kisses on both cheeks. She was proud of and deeply cared for her family and friends.

She was born Aida Abou Arraj in Marjeyoun, Lebanon. She grew up in Southern Lebanon, graduated at the top of her class and earned her scholarship to study and become a teacher in Beirut. Mom met Dad there, got married when she was 28, and started a beautiful marriage that lasted over half a century, 58 years to be precise. They experienced Beirut's golden days, raised four children, traveled to many parts of the world, and weathered the turbulence of time as they migrated from Beirut to Montreal to seek a better future for their children. Though adapted to the Canadian life, Mom always retained the best Lebanese trait - an unyielding passion for life and family - in her soul. A passion that she passed on to her husband, her children, her grandchildren and those who have the privilege to get to know her.

While we mourn her, we will always remember the love that she showed and inspired in us.

Aida you will always be in our hearts!

Fouad, Omar, Fadi, Rima, Camil, Carmen-Zahia, Benjamin and Elias.

A webcast of the funeral Service will be streamed online on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM EST to 11:30 AM EST local time.

You can view the ceremony live or on replay at https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/40679.

The ceremony will be available to all without a password. We would be grateful if you shared the link above with your family and friends.

P.S. The family would welcome donations to your favorite charity in Aida's Name instead of flowers.
