<div itemprop="description">Aileen Collins, born in Montreal, November 4, 1930 died peacefully at the Lakeshore General Hospital on Tuesday October 22, 2019. <br><br>She was predeceased by her husband Louis Dudek (2001), her parents Michael Collins and Veraconda Kennedy, and her siblings Shirley, Philip, Verna and Monica. She is survived by her nieces Mary Stewart Babin, and Kim Collins, her great niece Caitlin Babin (Eric), her great nephews Colin Babin (Krystin), Adam Babin, and Aaron Valere, and her beloved great great nephew Huxley Babin, and her good friend Abigail Anderson. <br><br>Aileen was an influential person within the literary community, working as the editor of the CIV/n literary magazine from 1953-1955, publishing the early works of Leonard Cohen, Irving Layton, as well as many other inspiring literary masters, and in 1974 cofounding DC Books with her husband Louis Dudek. A master teacher and consultant for the former CECM and McGill University, Aileen was a fearless teacher advocate. She was a leader in the English Language Arts community, serving on the ATEQ board of Directors and playing a key role in the design of the provincial curriculum.<br><br>The Family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home (4275, Boul. Des Sources, DDO, QC, H9H 2A6) on Friday, November 8, 2019, from 7 pm to 9 pm, and on Saturday, November 9, 2019, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. The funeral service will be held the same day at 12:30 at Rideau Funeral Home.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.<br></div>
