<div itemprop="description">Akiko Edith Sakai passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in her 103rd year (widow of the late Katsushige Sakamoto). <br>Dear mother of Wendy (widow of Brian McDermott) and Grant (Diane Loisel, grandmother of Simon and Laurence, great grandmother of Charlie). <br>Survived by her sister Chiyo Sakai Brydon (late Jock Brydon) and brother John Shuichi (late Emi Gwen Hayakawa). <br> <br>Predeceased by the Sakamoto brothers-in-law Minoru (late Kimi), Bill (late Bessie), Yuki (late Omiye), Koichi (late Tiny Satoru), late sister-in-law Kimi Hayakawa (late Happy). She is survived by 3 generations of nieces and nephews and cousins in California. <br> <br>Funeral services will be held on May 13, 2026, at Rideau Memorial Gardens, 4275 Boulevard des Sources, Dollard des Ormeaux. <br> <br>Visitation will be from 10:00am – noon with funeral from 1:00pm – 1:45pm followed by the burial at 2:30pm <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations to the Japanese Canadian Community Centre of Montreal will be appreciated. <br></div>
