It is with deep love and sadness that the family announces the passing of Mr. Andrew J Csisztu in his 92nd year. Andy is predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Jean Hébert, and is survived by their children Diane, Andrea, Michael (Bobby), and Donna (Rick). He is also survived by his grandchildren Sarah, Christopher (Fernanda), Thomas (Rachel), Marie (siblings Andrew, Jason), Samuel (Mélanie; father Pierre, siblings Patrick, Francis), and Samantha, and his great-grandson Daylen. Andy leaves behind his wife Kathleen Baker, her children Sandra (Jason), Carolyn (Norma), Kenneth, and Laura Weir and three grandchildren Keith (Samantha), Emily (Ankur), and Kate (Eric). He is also predeceased by his siblings Helen (Andy) and Julius, and is survived by his sister-in-law Julie and his niece Linda (late husband Joe) and nephew David (Teri), great-nieces and -nephews Lynus, Davin (Jennifer), Craig (Colleen), Eric, Kaitlyn, and their children.
Andy held a Bachelor of Science and was a longtime employee at Nortel. He took great pride in being an active community member, serving on the maintenance committee of the Baie d’Urfé Swim Club and as a soccer coach. He was a firefighter and served as chief of the Baie d’Urfé Volunteer Fire Department, and was a longstanding member of the Baie d’Urfé Rescue Squad. Andy gave his time and energy as a Mason and a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Montréal-Lakeshore. He was an active member of Corpus Christi church in Senneville for over 60 years and his faith was very important to him.
An artist, Andy enjoyed painting, and his paintings hang in many homes of his loved ones. He participated in the Modern Pentathlon and loved the competition and camaraderie of athletic events. He was an avid runner and enjoyed skiing, golf, tennis, and biking, among other sports. He was very social and hosted an annual backyard pig roast for many years, attended by friends and family from around Montréal and beyond. He loved to cook and has made many memories with loved ones over meals he prepared. His many travels took him across Canada and abroad, particularly to Hungary where many of his family members live.
He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
