Ann Alexander was born in Fort Frances, Ontario in 1943. She passed away peacefully from complications with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Garnet, her five children, Cara (Craig), Leonard (Jill), Dolores (Steve), Garnet (Mary), Vance (Angie), her 13 grandchildren: Chandler, Reid, Quinn, Cole, Riley, Kevin, Haley, Brendan, Burke, Sophie, Jaxon, Juliet, Renee as well as her many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Ann had been quite the athlete in her younger years and then turned that into being a great supporter of her children and grandchildren at their sporting events. Family meant everything to her. Card playing was also an essential. Ann made sure all of her grandkids knew how to play Go Fish, Crazy 8’s, Casino, Marbles, Partners – she was always ready to play a game of cards. Ann and Garnet were Bridge players and spent many afternoons playing with their friends in the community.

Ann was active in the community and a long serving member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL). She was a tireless fundraiser. For years she was a volunteer lunch supervisor at Kirkland Elementary school. She loved to bake, sew, knit, crochet and quilt and many of us were gifted with these treasures made with love. For 46 consecutive summers she returned with Garnet to Sioux Lookout and Dryden to visit family, that is how important family was to her. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday July 2nd, 2019 from 6pm to 9pm at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, H9B2A6, 514-685-3344. The funeral service will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 11075 Gouin O, Blvd. Pierrefonds, QC H8Y 1X6 on Wednesday, July 3rd at 11am.
For those who would like, donations can be made to the West Island Mission in her memory.
