Antonio Diorio
March 5, 1932 - September 3, 2022
In a world dominated by the noisy and the brash, the Diorio family mourns the passing of a true gentle man, our quietly inspiring brother and uncle Antonio (Tony) Diorio, born March 5, 1932 in Montreal and passed on September 3, 2022, to join his parents and many siblings. Brother to
Anita, Ernestine and the late Irene, Henrietta, Matt and Jim, son of Marianne and Vincenzo, uncle and great uncle and cousin to many more. Housemates for decades, Tony and his sisters Anita and Irene were a true three-legged table, and Tony’s lifetime of devotion to them played out as errand-master, chauffeur and chief listener — as long as his daily golf game at Saint Hyacinthe could be fit in, of course. And where his sisters rewarded his lifetime of loyalty with unequalled cuisine, the golf club rewarded it with a free lifetime membership, which helped him keep that cuisine at bay. A purchasing professional with GE for many years, a lover of dogs who flocked to his soft ways, Tony had many not-so-secret girlfriends but was a bachelor par excellence who loved to dance and joke with the ladies of Le Selection West Island, his last home, until his final days. He leaves us all better for his remarkable example of quiet, deep presence, something rarer and rarer to find.
A memorial service will be held at Rideau Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17th at 3 pm.
