It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my mom, Athanasia Papoutsakis, from Polemarhi Krete, who passed away January 12, 2021 at the age of 86.

She left behind a daughter, Catherine, son in law, Angelo and two beautiful grandchildren Michael and Tanya Vernoia who loved her dearly.

My mother was an amazing cook, seamstress, babysitter and a great person overall. She devoted her entire life to her daughter and grandchildren. Her priority was to build an easier life for her daughter, and she did it alone with the help of her mother. She accomplished more than any other woman of those days would.
Although the Dementia came into place towards the end of her life, she still managed to keep smiling and maintain her humor. She will be joining her mother, sister and brother in law up in heavan.

Due to the covid restrictions, and situation we have been put in, there will be no funeral viewing or visitation to the public but her immediate family maximizing it to 10 people.

Please say a prayer for her.

Love you mommy.
We miss you and you will remain with us forever. xoxo RIP

For those who wish, donations can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer Society or to the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation.
