It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara (Hughes) McIlwaine, who peacefully left us on August 17, 2026, at the age of 92. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Frank McIlwaine, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Barbara will be dearly missed by her loving children, Frank (Kim), Dianna (Gary), Randy (Christine), and Danny (deceased). Remembered as Nannie by her cherished grandchildren, Ryan (Natalie), Janson (Kevin), Kayla (Pawel), Gregory (Amanda), Jenna (Cameron), Erica (Ryan), and Sarah (Alexander), and her precious great-grandchildren, Liam, Evan, Aiden, Kara, Caleb, Isla, Lennon, and Kayce.
Known for her smile, kindness, and warmth, Barbara touched the lives of all who knew her. She will forever be remembered for the love she had for her family and her smile that lit up the room with pride whenever her great-grandchildren gave her a hug.
A celebration of her life will take place at Rideau Funeral Home, located at 4275 Sources Boulevard, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6, on September 5th at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, 265 Rue André-Brunet, Kirkland, QC H9H 3R4.
