Though her spirit will be forever present in our hearts, Brigid Baker McConnell (Brid) passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025 at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, with family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Bert McConnell, adored mother of Michael and Kevin (Sophie) and wonderful second mother to Carol, Shirley (Eric), Winder (Kathy) and David. Brid’s grandchildren were her treasures and she delighted in her time with them. She will be deeply missed by Karen, Kerry, Erin, Jasmine, Nathan, Emmanuel, Leio, Etienne, Mila and great granddaughter, Elena.

Brid was predeceased by her sisters Mary and Ann. She leaves her loving brothers, John (the late Ann), Michael (Mary), Dennis (Sonya) and Paddy (Claire), along with her many nieces and nephews.

Brid was born in County Clare, Ireland on May 9, 1942. She started her nursing career in the UK in the sixties and after emigrating to Canada, was licensed to nurse in Quebec in 1969. It was through nursing that Brid met her dear Bert and they were married June 6, 1970.

Brid loved spending time with her friends and was a fixture in the Lachine neighbourhood. Ever friendly and helpful to her community, she could be found tending her garden, a favourite place… the grass was always greener under her care.

A more strong, kind, compassionate, funny, remarkable person would be hard to find. The world will continue shining brightly with her in our memories.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.
