It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cathy Misener on June 3rd, 2024 at the age of 87.

Loving wife of Gary Misener, beloved mother of Sarah (Paul) and Jessica. Proud grandmother to Zoë and Madeline Brack. She also leaves behind her brothers and sister, Juliette Bugeau (late Norm), late Romeo Alonzi (Nina) and Joseph Alonzi (late Rochelle), along with many nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.

Cathy was the most beautiful, kind and brightest light that we knew. She loved to sing, loved music, loved to dance and was happiest surrounded by her family and friends. She loved to play games, especially card games like Pay-me and Scat, and you could always count on a fast paced, boisterous and fun game when she was at the table. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, zest for life and her warm and open soul. Cathy had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and at home. She loved being around people and never met anyone she didn’t want to talk to.

She was born in Berlin, a small town in NH, into a loving, tight knit Italian family. She always loved to travel and see new places and meet new people. She became a nurse and her job took her to many areas, including Michigan, LA, San Francisco and eventually to what would become home, Montreal, Canada. She joined a ski group there named John’s Foley, where she met lifelong friends, had countless adventures and met and fell in love with her husband Gary.

Together they traveled, skied and discovered Lac des Piles, or what we now lovingly call The Lake. They have been on the lake together for over 60 years. They have passed on their love of the lake to their daughters and now their granddaughters. It is fitting that Cathy took her last breath while reading peacefully on the deck overlooking the lake. Cathy was always involved in her local community and an active member of the Catholic Church. She loved her family fiercely. Her passing is a great loss to all who knew and loved her. She will be missed tremendously and will remain in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14th at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, DDO, from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held at St-Edmund of Canterbury Parish, 105 Beaconsfield Blvd, Beaconsfield, on Saturday, June 15th at 11am.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to MS Canada, MS Canada 250 Dundas Street West, Suite 500 Toronto ON, M5T 2Z5.
