<div itemprop="description">It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Chandra (Chand) Ramsingh Ahooja on Thursday, February 25 at the age of 88. He left this world peacefully, spending his last days surrounded by family and close friends. Chand will be remembered as an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, friend, entrepreneur, and gentleman with unparalleled integrity. He was well rounded and widely traveled with a global perspective of life. Chand was enthusiastic about high technology and stayed current with the latest innovations to his final days. He was a beloved individual, cool in a crisis, and a guiding light to family, friends, and colleagues. Chand is survived by his loving wife Sarla of 61 years and his children Tina, Sabina (Don Gordon), and Sanjay (Joann DeLuca) as well as his grandchildren Kristin, Tara, Carley, Jade, and Dylan. Chand is predeceased by his sister Krishna and brother Ramesh, and survived by his sisters Lalita and Nirmala. Chand was born in Amritsar, Punjab on February 20th 1933 to Ramsingh and Balwant Ahooja. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Bombay, India and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, USA. He then returned to Bombay to marry the love of his life Sarla and together raised their 3 children in Montreal, Canada. Chand was a successful entrepreneur who founded Omicron Telesystems Inc. and F@xmate.com Inc. for which he was nominated 1997 Entrepreneur of the Year. He was also recognized by the West Island Chamber of Commerce (Montreal) for Hi Tech Excellence and the Financial Post who listed his ventures amongst the 200 leading software companies and 25 up and coming enterprises. Chand will be greatly missed by the many people who were touched by his immense generosity, knowledge, guidance, and beautiful smile that brightened up every day. Chand’s memory will live on forever in our hearts. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA of Montreal.</div>
