It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Don who passed away peacefully on January 8th, 2020. David leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Martha Gosas Don, his sons Marshall (Lynne Daley), Marc (Donna Haley), and his granddaughter Madison. David also leaves behind his siblings Heather, Clyde, Bill and their families along with many wonderful friends.

David was a renowned and gifted musician whose music shall play on as a result of the years he spent teaching a very unique style of playing piano to various students in the Montreal area. His love of music has been heard in many a venue throughout Montreal however the best venue of all was in his home where he could often be heard playing songs for Martha as she would “name that tune.” His piano playing was the centre of the family Christmas celebration where everyone gathered together in the living room to sing carol after carol each year.

David also thoroughly enjoyed gardening and, together with Martha, they spent the last 58 years building a beautiful garden and golf putting green in their backyard. Their loving, nurturing relationship is reflected in the beauty they created in their backyard oasis and it will provide a joyous memory year after year as the flowers continue to remind us of the person who once planted them there.

David had a great sense of humour and throughout his time, always found creative ways to make us laugh. A truly beautiful person whose kind heart and gentle manner often brought a sense of comfort to you simply by being in his presence, David will be missed more than words could ever express and he will live on in our hearts forever.

Visitations will be held at the Rideau Funeral Home (4275 Sources Blvd, DDO, H9B 2A6) on Thursday January 16. 2020 from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm, followed by a celebration of David's life at 7:30pm.
