It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Denise (née Marquette) Brooke at the age of 94 on July 24, 2025, at the Lakeshore General
Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
She is survived by her loving husband Thomas Brooke, her beloved children Susan, Lawrence, Louise (Sylvain), Richard and Sylvia (Denis). She was the loving Grandma of Cassidy and Angelo whom she adored and her beloved nephews Marc (Pat) and John.
She is predeceased by her parents Louis Marquette and Albertine Chicoine, by her sisters Thérèse (Larry), Madeleine, Jacqueline (George) and Sister Pauline (CND).
Denise was born in Montreal on September 16, 1930. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a wealth of cherished memories which will forever remain in our hearts. She spent her life devoted to her family. Until her new life began with Tom, she was a single mother raising five children. Her children were her heart and soul. Her sense of humor brought fun and laughter into their lives. She taught them to lead their lives with respect, integrity and pride. She was a pillar of strength through thick and thin, sickness and health.
Denise enjoyed bowling, where she met Tom, the love of her life. She played the piano and appreciated music including classical, big band era and international rhythms. She also enjoyed skiing, reading, tending to the flowers and feeding the birds in her garden and loved her dogs.
Her presence will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional and dedicated staff on 3 North at the Lakeshore General Hospital, including the team of specialists, for their utmost care and sincere compassion. They treated Denise with dignity, respect, love and laughter.
A mass will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00am at Saint-Ignatius of Loyola Church, 4455 rue West Broadway, N.D.G., QC. It will be followed by a reception at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in Denise’s memory, to the Lakeshore General Hospital https://fondationlakeshore.ca/donate/
