It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Brougham, who passed away peacefully at the age of 85. He was a deeply loved father, grandfather, uncle, and a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him.
Dennis was forceful and steadfast in what he believed, a man of strong principles whose convictions guided his life. He lived with integrity and purpose, earning the respect of those around him through his honesty and unwavering sense of right and wrong.
He began his career at the Smelting Works in England, where he met the love of his life, Ute, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Ute predeceased him in 2014, and Dennis carried her memory with him always.
Dennis later joined ALCAN, which led to a nine-year posting in Jamaica. Those years were an important and cherished chapter of his life, filled with adventure and lasting memories. ALCAN later transferred him to Chicoutimi and then Montreal, where Dennis formed lasting friendships with people he came to consider his family away from home—bonds built on trust, shared experiences, and mutual respect.
After leaving ALCAN, Dennis moved on to other opportunities, which led him to PBI and later to conclude his career at Capitol Industries. There, he built lasting relationships that meant a great deal to him and remained close to until his passing.
Above all else, Dennis was devoted to his family. His love was constant and unmistakable—you always knew that he loved you. He showed his care through his actions, his loyalty, and his steady, reassuring support.
Dennis is survived by his son, Steven, his daughter, Claire, and his cherished grandchildren, Bella, James, and Alexa, as well as family in England, all of whom will miss him dearly. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of commitment, resilience, and devotion to family that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Funeral details are listed below, and all are welcome to join the family for a small reception in the church hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to a charity of your choice.
