Dev Datt Sharma
December 8, 1930 – December 21, 2025
Dev Datt Sharma passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, in Montreal, at the age of 95.
Born on December 8, 1930, in Hoshiarpur, India, Dev Datt lived a life defined by perseverance, family, and quiet dedication. In 1957, he left India in search of greater opportunities, a courageous step that shaped the course of his life and generations to come.
He established his family in the United Kingdom, where he pursued his studies in accounting at Cambridge University. In later years, he moved with his family to Canada, which he proudly called home for the remainder of his life.
Dev Datt was deeply devoted to his family and friends and found great joy in their company. He was known for his warmth, steady presence, and love of golf, a passion he enjoyed well into his later years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Saroj, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage; his children, Tarun, Renuka (and her spouse Ajay), and Sumant (and his spouse Myriam); and his cherished grandchildren Nishaan, Divya, Nikhil, Devin, Omalaa, Nirvana, Veda, and Aura. He is also lovingly remembered by his great-granddaughter, Sahara.
Dev Datt Sharma’s legacy lives on through the family he nurtured, the values he upheld, and the lives he touched across continents. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
