It is with profound sadness that we share the departure of our dear Donald (Don) Cummings at the age of 73. His journey ended on April 22, 2024, following several years of considerable health challenges.

Don was the beating heart of our family - a devoted husband to Karen for a remarkable 52 years, a spirited father brimming with fun and steadfastness to his children, Greg and Beth (Andre). He was the absolute best Fafa to his granddaughters, Maddisson and Mackenzie, who were his treasured gems, filling his heart with boundless hope and joy their radiant presence in his life sparked immeasurable joy. His heart held a special place for his beloved four-legged friend, Max, whose companionship he cherished deeply.

Don ascends to his late parents, Lorne and Christina, and his sister, Sandy. His legacy lives on in his surviving brother Robert, and sister Kathy.

Don was the epitome of a life well-lived. His resilience was as outstanding as his contagious zest for life and his love for a hearty laugh. His unwavering dedication led him to devote his entire career journey to Kraft General Foods, before transitioning early into a retirement filled with his fervent passions. A voracious reader and a culinary enthusiast, he found immense pleasure in devouring books and relishing gourmet delights. A natural epicurean, he would have certainly been awarded a gold medal if there ever was an Olympic event for joyous restaurant-hopping! Don found serene happiness in the gentle sway of the cruising life, a cherished pastime he enjoyed with his family. He also proudly wore the mantle of 'Coach', leaving an indelible mark not just on the sports fields and arenas, but in the hearts of many.

A significant chapter of his life was etched on the banks of serene Selby Lake during his childhood. Amidst the tranquil waters, he not only made joyful memories but also met his future wife, marking the onset of a beautiful life-long partnership.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional teams on the 5th floor at CHSLD Bayview, and at Manoir Beaconsfield. Your tireless efforts and compassionate care surpassed all expectations, and we will forever be grateful.

At Don's request, no formal service will be held. We invite family and friends to pay their respects at a graveside gathering on May 11th at 1:30pm at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to either the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, in honor of Don's memory.
