<div itemprop="description">With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Doreen Newark on December 15, 2024. She died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 90. She was born in 1934 in Enfield, London, England to Ada and James Newark and moved with her parents and siblings to Paisley, Scotland in 1940. In 1956 Doreen left Scotland and traveled to Quebec to work as an au pair for a family in Rosemère. Shortly after she met Georg Frehner, who became the love of her life. They married in 1957 and lived in Montreal where she worked at the Royal Bank. The family moved to Dollard-des-Ormeaux in 1971, and she lived there until her passing. Doreen was a passionate and caring woman who loved life and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Deeply contemplative and introspective, she was a prolific poet who was inspired by faith in God and the beauty of Creation. <br> <br>Doreen is predeceased by her husband Georg and siblings Frederick, Pearl, Roy, William, Maureen, Edgar and David. She is lovingly remembered by children Carol, George (Denise), Paul (Susanne), and grandchildren Steven, Katie, Jacqueline, Amalie, Ingrid, Justin, Kevin and Meghan and step-grandson Alex (Veronika). She also leaves behind sisters Theresa and Rita, her good friend Erika Kling and many other friends and family members. <br> <br>Public visitation will take place at Rideau Funeral Home, 4239 Sources Boulevard, Dollard-des-Ormeaux on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 10:30 am. A funeral ceremony will follow at 12:00 pm. <br> <br>Memorial donations in Doreen’s name can be sent to your favorite charity. <br></div>
