The Korte-LaBerge family is very sad to announce the passing of Dorothy (Carroll) LaBerge, on January 9, 2024 at the age of 75.

Dorothy will be very fondly remembered by her family and friends. Dorothy was a devoted mother to son Jonathan (Nadine), and grandmother to Thomas (11) and Lia (2). She cherished her sisters Linda (Leo) and Joan, and brother Gerard (Carolyn), her nieces and nephews – Chad, Lenore, Ryan, Jeremy, Amy, Melanie, Jaclyn, Daniel, Jessica, Erin, and Peter – as well as many other family and friends.

Born to Anthony Carroll and Amelia (Dempsey) Carroll, Dorothy was raised in the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. She was a sweet and tenacious woman. She worked as a telephone operator for Terra Nova Tel, before moving to Montreal with her ex-husband Bill. During her time working in the home, Dorothy operated a home daycare. Later in life, she co-owned a grocery store in Cardinal, Ontario and valued the friendships she made as a retail associate in Montreal and Nova Scotia. She found deep meaning in her work as a caregiver with Nova West Island. Dorothy also valued her three decades of involvement with St. Luke’s Parish and its community. She spoke often of the many important friendships formed at work and church.

Dorothy’s wish to be cremated quickly upon her passing has been fulfilled.

The funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Parish at 11am on Saturday, February 3rd. The family will be receiving condolences at 10am at the parish, and a reception will be held in the parish hall following the service. The service will be live streamed for those who wish to participate but are unable to attend. She benefitted tremendously from working and being involved with Nova West Island, and the level of care that she received at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence was beyond belief. She wanted very much that any monetary gestures go to supporting these two organizations.

https://residencesoinspalliatifs.ca/en/
https://www.novawi.org/
