<div itemprop="description">It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Robinson at the age of eighty-five on March 1st, 2024. He passed away at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness and was surrounded by family, friends and lots of love in his final days. <br><br>He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Louise Doherty, proud father to Kerri (Peter Frechette) and Nancy (Emmet Dunne) as well as doting grandfather to Ryan, Connor and Meaghan Frechette and Kate Dunne. Son of the late Earl and Gertrude Robinson of Inverness, QC. He is predeceased by his siblings Muriel, Gerald, Wayne and Barry. He will be missed by his surviving siblings Donald, Geraldine, Eric and Marilyn, many brothers and sisters-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cherished friends. He will be fondly remembered by the Dempsey, McDonald and the Frizzle families.<br><br>Doug lived life to the fullest and as he neared the end of life reminded his family that he had a wonderful life with no regrets, he stated that is was a good life filled with much love and laughter. <br><br>He loved his job and the wonderful people he was able to meet through it, many of his colleagues as well as client's ended up becoming life long friends. His work allowed him to travel extensively all over the province and he loved getting to know the people he met along the way. There was no place he loved more than the area he referred to as "down home", this area as well as the people from there held a special place in his heart his entire life.<br><br>In his spare time he enjoyed getting out into nature and nothing brought a smile to his face quite like the smell of fresh cut grass. He took great pleasure in the simple things such a the first sign of spring flowers, a fresh tomato from his garden or a bird singing. He loved going for a walk in the forest or fishing for brook trout. He held a great respect his entire life for the importance of protecting the world around him and understanding how all of nature worked together.<br><br>He loved his family more than anything and this included his extended family as well. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family. There was nothing that ever brought him as much joy as being a grandfather. He spent a lot of time with his grandchildren and ensured that each one of them knew just how special they were to him. <br><br>The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital. We will forever be grateful to the staff of both the Oncology and ICU departments for their excellent care, kindness and compassion. A special Thank you to RN Jennifer Wilson in the Oncology Treatment Room, you were so wonderful and helping explain everything to him. Another special Thank you to PAB Jenny in the ICU, your attention to detail and dignity was greatly appreciated.<br><br>Visitation takes place on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service at 1 p.m.: Rideau Funeral Home 4239 Boul. des Sources, D.D.O. H9B 2A6.<br>In lieu of flower, donations to the St. Mary's Oncology Department or The Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.<br></div>
