It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Dr. Abolghasem Raissadat. He was a loving husband to his wife Jaleh Assa, a devoted father to his children Ali, Haleh, Sepideh and their spouses Aita, Atila, Aydin and a caring grandfather to Deyar, Farbod, Alma. An exceptional human being, an outstanding clinician, a creative mind, a pivot of friendship, a selfless humanitarian, a mindful educator and a curious lifelong learner is how his friends, colleagues, and students describe him. Practicing medicine was not only a profession to him, it was a way of life, a reason for living. Retirement was not a concept he believed in. He made it his responsibility to advance science by documenting what he had learned as an Infectious Disease Specialist over his 50+ years of practice and had experienced as a human being in his fruitful 81 years of life. As a trusted physician, he trained multiple generations of immunologists and infectious disease researchers, medical students, and fellows. He adhered to the highest medical ethics, advocated for health care as a human right rather than a privilege, and believed in speaking the truth at any cost.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or any other cause of your choice in memory of Dr. Abolghasem Raissadat will be much appreciated.
