<div itemprop="description">It is with profound sadness that the family announces John's passing on June 10th at the age of 79. He was born in Halifax, NS, the son of John Milton Little and Sarah Kathleen Brown. <br><br>Loving and devoted husband of Maureen Quelch, he is survived by his children Teresa, Jim (Lara), Paul, David (Melanie), and Peter (Gina). Proud grandfather of Rachel (Joshua), Sebastien, Dominique; Jack, Nicolas; Kate, Calvin; Madeline, Reagan; Samantha, Jaden, Maddux. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Robert (Myra), step-daughter Lynn (Dennis) and step-grandchildren Anthony and Marlene. He was predeceased by his brother William and step-son Wayne (Sylvie).<br><br>John was the director of ophthalmology at the Montreal Children's Hospital for 22 years and also a retinal surgeon at the Montreal General Hospital for many years. He was dedicated to his patients and carried out their care with dignity.<br><br>John was involved with many medical organizations and worked on many committees with his colleagues whom he held in high esteem. He was the founder and first president of the Canadian Association of Pediatric Ophthalmologists (CAPO) in 1992. It was also a priviledge for John to be the ophthalmological consultant to the Montreal Canadians Hockey Club for 43 years. <br><br>He was a member of the St. Patrick's Society of Montreal serving as president (2004-2006) and Irishman of the Year in 2009. John played hockey for many years with the PCOT league and looked forward to the weekly breakfasts and monthly luncheons with his hockey buddies.<br><br>Our sincere thanks to the staff of the ICU and on 9C at the Royal Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care.<br><br>Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 boul. des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec H9B 2A6, 514-685-3344. The funeral service will take place at St. Veronica's Parish, 1300 Carson Avenue, Dorval on Saturday, June 16 at 9:30 am. John was a man of great faith; he is now resting with the Lord. Donations to Loyola High School in John's memory or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.</div>
