Earl Osbourne Worrell
March 14, 1937 - March 8, 2022
With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Earl Osbourne Worrell, on the 8th day of March,
2022. Earl passed away peacefully in the loving company of his longtime partner and love,
Marvo Yearwood-Holder.
Cherished father to Brian and Peter, he will be dearly missed by them and their families
including grandchildren (Benjamin and Maya). He will also be missed by Marvo and her family,
surviving siblings (Grace, Keith, and Nancy) and countless dear friends and family members
including the entire Douglas family, Hartley Richards, and Keith Lawrence among many others.
Earl is pre-deceased by his late wife (Joyce Brathwaite), and siblings (Charles Smith and
Pauline McCarthy). He is survived by his sister-in-laws (Barbara and Undine Brathwaite).
Earl had a rich and full life which began in Bridgetown, Barbados. Having completed his
elementary and secondary education there, Earl went on to work at Public Works and the
Barbados Industrial Development Corp. He was very athletic, and enjoyed table tennis and
soccer, which he continued to enjoy after moving to Montreal in 1968.
His favorite pastime however, was dominoes and remained so into his 80’s.
Earl married Joyce Brathwaite (deceased) soon after moving to Montreal and started a family.
Their two sons were an endless source of joy and pride for him, and Earl actively supported
their involvement in local sports like hockey and soccer. He readily volunteered to coach soccer
as needed and was always on the sidelines cheering for the team and easily connecting with
other parents. It’s easy to see why he was so well-loved by everyone.
Earl was actively involved in their community and had many dear friends. Their home in
Pierrefonds was often a place for gatherings and Earl was known for his quick wit, fun-loving
attitude, and welcoming, respectful nature.
In Montreal, Earl worked at the Royal Bank of Canada for over 20 years, until he retired.
Earl’s longtime, beloved partner Marvo and he shared many great travels, adventures, and
relationships with their mutual friends and family members in Canada and the U.S. as well as in
Barbados. His surviving sister, Grace, has commented on how close their relationship was, and
Earl will be so dearly missed by all who knew him.
