<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Allan Rutherford on January 10, 2026, at the Catherine Booth Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Montreal, predeceased by his parents, Frederick Arthur Rutherford and Minnie Harder, and his brother Ron. He will be sorely missed by his loving wife Marjolyn (Marjie) Rutherford, née Val, son Terry, and brother Tom (Jill). He was much loved and respected by his brothers-in-law, Peter, Roy (Kerry) and Erik (Gillian), and sisters-in-law, Beth and Stella, and many cousins, nephews and nieces. <br> <br>Ted was a graduate of McGill University and worked for 25 years in telecommunications at Teleglobe Canada in Montreal. He loved to travel, living and working in Germany for two years when first married; later, touring with family and camper across Canada and the USA. <br> <br>Ted was known for his warmth, humor, and unwavering support of his family and friends. His generosity and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. <br> <br>He loved doing carpentry, cooking and gardening, as well as helping to provide a safe and supportive environment for his son with special needs. His patience and encouragement helped him achieve his full potential. <br> <br>Ted will be remembered for his 15 years as dedicated Cedar Park Heights scout leader and his 40 year involvement with Lakeshore Trinity United Church (St. John's United). <br> <br>Visitation: January 17, at 1:00 PM at Lakeshore Trinity United Church, 98 Aurora Avenue, Pointe Claire, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations to AVATIL (www.avatil.org) or a charity of your choice will be appreciated.</div>
