Edward Louis Courtney Miller
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Louis Courtney Miller, on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe-Claire, Quebec. He was 91 years old.
Edward was born on March 12, 1935, and lived a long, fulfilling life marked by curiosity, creativity, love, and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
He was the devoted father of Linda Miller (Dean Hilton) and Catherine Miller, and the beloved husband of the late Beverly Ann Patricia Miller (née Armstrong), with whom he shared more than 34 wonderful years of marriage. He was the loving grandfather of Aidan, Ellissa and Kate, as well as a cherished brother-in-law to Thomas Armstrong (Lillian Armstrong). Edward will be greatly missed by longtime family friends, the Saevils, whose friendship spanned most of his life. In recent times, Edward was a treasured companion and dear friend of Helene Codner, whose companionship and love filled his later years.
Edward was a man of many talents and interests. He embraced life with enthusiasm and was in his element when learning, exploring, or creating. He enjoyed skiing, sailing, golfing, hiking, skating, cycling, photography, painting and astronomy, to name some of his many passions. His love of travel took him throughout Europe and across parts of Canada, where he captured the beauty of the places he visited through his camera lens.
An accomplished painter, Edward transformed many of his own photographs into stunningly realistic works of art. His paintings reflected not only his remarkable artistic ability but also his keen eye for detail and his appreciation for the beauty around him.
His lifelong fascination with science and his endlessly inquisitive mind led him, as a young man, to a career in engineering. He considered himself fortunate to have spent his working life doing work that he loved, and that he found both challenging and rewarding.
Above all, Edward cherished time spent with friends and family. Those who knew Edward will remember his intelligence, his wonderful sense of humour, his quick wit, and his playful spirit. He never lost his ability to be silly, or to find joy in everyday moments. His passion for life enriched the lives of his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Edward's legacy lives on in the memories he created, the art he shared, the knowledge he pursued, and the love and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Canada is appreciated.
