Elaine Katherine Girouard (Young), beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 after a brief illness. She will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met.
Born March 7, 1940, in Montreal, the youngest of twelve. She is survived by her sister Marilyn (Karl) and predeceased by Armand (Cres), Debbie (Lew), Raymond (Helen), Edith (Dalton), Dorothy (Harold), Paul (Dorothy), Ann Marie (Jim), George (Alice), Denise (Ralph), and Rosemary (Alan).
Family was the heart of Elaine’s life. A devoted and loving wife to her late husband of 63 years, Bernard. She was a proud mother to Louise (Doug Dobby), Brent (Tanya Knights), Scott (Sharon Cannon) and Lori (Dino Larouche) and a cherished grandmother to Courtney, Kaitlin (Kirk), Michael, Erica, Cynthia, Kelly, Chelsea (Anthony), Morgan (Mike), Olivia and Maya and great-grandmother to Scotlyn, Berkeley, Whistler and Canyon.
Elaine was deeply committed to her work and took great pride in her career. She was respected for her professionalism and dedication over the years.
Known for her quick wit and love of a good joke, she brought lightness and laughter wherever she went. Her kindness was constant, her generosity was endless, and her ability to uplift others was simply part of who she was. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and in the many lives she quietly but profoundly impacted.
She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Geriatrics Unit or Emergency Department at St-Mary’s Hospital.
