Ellen Jensen
September 6, 1940 - August 21, 2023
It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ellen Audrey Sejer Jensen Roe at the age of 82 years.
Ellen Audrey Sejer Jensen; a long name for a simple woman, all of which had my Mother be more than proud of her rich Danish heritage, but more apt to simply be called Ellen by most, Helen by some, and Blondie by those who knew.
Wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend, Ellen was predeceased by her loving husband Robert (Bob/Bobby/Sarge) Roe, and cared for by son Richard Douglas (Wife Fiona McIntosh along with grandsons Erik, Iain), son Keith Robert, and daughter Karen Ann (Dino Nastasi and granddaughter Haley), and beloved sister-in-law Sylvia McKenzie.
A daughter of Danish immigrants, born and raised in Montreal (NDG & Lachine), and a former Air Canada employee, Ellen was a proud Lutheran, Daughter, Wife, Mother, and Friend.
Ellen grew up trilingual in NDG and Lachine, graduated from Lachine High School, was married at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, bought her 1st home with Bob in Pincourt, 2nd in Baie D’Urfe, and then resided at Villa Beaurepaire in Beaconsfield.
Ellen had many passions that included multiple visual arts, travel, shopping, and collecting, but these were outweighed by the love of animals and especially of her adored dogs (Duchess, Boots, Patches, Shadow, Simba, and Princess) and her cat (Mooch),
She was a renowned cook and baker, and filled many a void with food that will always be fondly remembered. This would later be replaced by allowing others to cook for her instead, which included favourite restaurants and the meals of her daughter-in-law Fiona.
In later years, these penchants were replaced by her love to volunteer and be a chronic supporter at NOVA and to be nicknamed the “Book Lady”. Ellen had always wanted to be a Librarian, and found this calling that made her…happy.
She survived the passing of her late husband Bob, relocation, and hospitalizations herself, but Ellen had finally started feeling at Home in her familiar surroundings, thanks to Family and Friends.
Ellen had a challenged life replete with health difficulties that finally took their toll.
Ellen passed on August 21st, 2023, at Lakeshore General Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be forthcoming.
It is a Life worth celebrating.
Tak, Thank You, Merci.
