<div itemprop="description">It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Erika Levis (nee Promies), of Pointe-Claire, Qc on Thursday November 16th 2023, at the age of 85 years. <br> <br>Erika was born in 1938 in Hannover Germany to Paula-Marie and Kurt Promies. In 1956, she traveled to Montreal with her brother Kurt, to visit her sisters Elizabeth (Dollard-des-Ormeaux) and Molly (Montreal at the time). She liked Montreal so much, that she decided to stay and find employment. She worked at the Corner Snack Bar (AKA Moe’s) at the corner of Lambert-Closse and De Maisonneuve, for almost 30 years as a waitress. <br> <br>One day, a handsome young policeman by the name of Laurent Levis, who was doing traffic at the intersection outside, came in from the cold to get a cup of coffee. Erika and Larry met, fell in love and the rest is history. In 1966 they were married and welcomed their son Jean-Pierre in 1969. <br> <br>Obwohl sie 1956 nach Kanada einwanderte und 1967 kanadische Staatsbürgerin wurde, hat sie ihre Liebe zu ihrer Heimat nie verloren. Deutschland stand immer im Mittelpunkt ihrer Identität und sie war sehr stolz auf ihre Herkunft und ihre Familie. Sie bemühte sich stets, mit ihren Lieben in Deutschland in Kontakt zu bleiben, indem sie regelmäßig Briefe und Postkarten schrieb (oder telefonierte) oder zurückreiste, um Familie und Freunde wiederzusehen, wenn sie konnte. Jeder, der Erika kennenlernte, wusste schnell, dass sie Larrys Frau, Jean-Pierres Mutter, (später) die Oma der Jungs und eine stolze Deutsche war. <br> <br>She will be missed by her son Jean-Pierre (Kellie Leahy); grandchildren, Sean (Payton Mitchell), Thomas and Ryan; sisters Molly and Marie-Luise, sister-in-law Louisette Lambert; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren and their friends/teammates for her infamous “Oma’s chocolate chip cookies”. <br> <br>Erika was predeceased by her husband Larry; siblings, Elizabeth, Gunther, Hans, and Kurt and good friends Gertraud (Germany) and Mae (LaSalle). <br> <br>At Erika‘s request, no service will be held. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the JDRF (www.jdrf.ca) or the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence (https://residencesoinspalliatifs.ca/en/), in her name. <br></div>
