Ersilia Faustina Zappavigna Sollazzo
1921-2018

Ersilia was born in San Nicola D’Adrore, Provincia di Reggio Calabria on March 4, 1921 to Maria Giuseppa D’Agostino and Nicola Zappavigna. She was married to Bruno Salvatore Sollazzo on November 21st, 1946 in San Nicola. In 1951, the couple moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada and remained there for nine years. In 1960, they moved to Jersey City, New Jersey with Mr. Sollazzo’s parents. After the death of Bruno’s parents, they moved back to Montreal in 1986. Faustina was extremely happy about the move because she missed the city of Montreal and all the family and friends she left behind in 1960. Bruno and Faustina enjoyed their retirement years in Montreal for 3 seasons out of the year and spent winter’s in the warmth of Dania, Florida.
Faustina was an excellent hostess and often had many family members at her house for home cooked dinners. Her specialties were her three hour tomato sauce and fresh baked bread. Her sense of humor and joyous laugh was contagious and everyone loved being in her company.
Faustina was predeceased by five sisters, Marietta, Gesualda, Francesca, Gina, Flora and two brothers Giuseppe and Domenico. Faustina is survived by her daughter Maria Ceravolo ( Raffaele), her grandson Rosario Ceravolo (Viktoriia), her granddaughter Silvana (Steve Mannarino) and her great grandchildren, Giuliana and Marialinda. She is also survived by two sisters Silvia Delfina Sorbara and Giuseppina Castelvetere.
She will be extremely missed by all her family and friends in Canada, U.S.A and Italy.
May she Rest in Peace.
