<div itemprop="description"><br>It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evangelos Sideris, who passed away peacefully on December 27th, 2024 at the age of 93. <br> <br>Devoted husband of his late wife Toulla Mammis, loving father to his daughter, Mary and his son, Theophanis (Sharon), beloved grandfather to George (Tina), Evangelos and Megan, and a cherished great-grandfather to Stella. <br> <br>Evangelos is also survived by many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends in Canada, the United States and Greece. A deeply spiritual man, he will be fondly remembered for his warm and kind demeanor and his jovial sense of humor. <br> <br>Born in Agios Thomas, Thebes, Greece, Evangelos proudly served in the Hellenic Air Force as a pilot holding the rank of Sergeant. Following his immigration to Canada, he would become a test pilot for Canadair (now Bombardier) flying various jets including the Lockheed T-33, the F-14 Tomcat and the F-16 Fighting Falcon. After hanging up his wings, his comradery coupled with his diplomatic nature would make him a perfect fit for the hospitality industry, bringing him to some of Montreal’s most prestigious hotels including The Hyatt Regency, The Sheraton Centre, Hotel Bonaventure and The Queen Elizabeth. <br> <br>The family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home, located at 4275 Sources Boulevard, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec on Thursday, January 16th, 2025 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, and Friday, January 17th from 10:00 am – 10:30 am. <br> <br>A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 17th, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Constantine & Hellen Greek Orthodox Church, located at 20 Brunswick Boulevard, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec. A graveside service will be held immediately after mass at Rideau Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dollard-des-Ormeaux where Evangelos will be laid to rest. <br> <br>The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, aides, caregivers and staff of the Centre d’Hébergement Champlain-de-Saint-François for their kind and compassionate care throughout his journey and in his final days. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in his memory. <br></div>
