Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of our parents, Eileen Fava (nee O’Connor) and Rene Fava, peacefully, only hours apart, on Saturday November 20, 2021.

They will be dearly missed by their sons Martin (Heather) and James (Lise) and grandchildren Matthew, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Madlen, and Malcolm as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends from Ville Emard, Alfred Road in DDO and The Cambridge in Pointe-Claire.

Eileen is pre-deceased by her brothers Martin (Louise) and Patrick. Rene is predeceased by brothers Peter (Ermine), Paul (Enez) and sister Rose (Anthony). Married on June 2, 1951, they spent their next 70 years together. Although their last few years were spent apart physically, they remained close. Eileen was cared for at The Chateau Pierrefonds in Sainte- Genevieve for close to three years. Rene spent his last three months of life at The Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence in Kirkland. Always an engaging couple, they knew how to make you feel very much at home while visiting and always loved a good time. Whether at family meals or with neighbors and friends, good food and drink were always plentiful. You never got up hungry from the table nor had an empty glass. They also knew how to “’cut a rug” and loved to dance to music from their generation and never turned down an opportunity to show off their moves. Rene worked in various positions at Canadian Pacific Railway and retired from CPR in 1987 after a 41-year career. Eileen was the consummate homemaker and ran the ship, her focus being on her family and household. They always took care of each other and that is evidenced in how they chose to leave us. They gave each other one final gift as they spared each other from the grief of knowing the other was gone.

Our family would like to thank the entire staff at Le Chateau Pierrefonds for the care and respect they gave to Eileen. Our thanks also extend to the CLSC du Lac-Saint Louis (Mandeep Litt) and to Nova West Island (Maxine Lybert) for making Rene feel comfortable and safe in his home until he could no longer remain there. And to the doctors, nurses, PAB’s, social workers and volunteers at The Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residnce, your devotion and level of care provided was outstanding and beautiful to witness.

Family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 1st from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A single funeral mass will take place at St.Thomas à Becket Parish Church on Thursday, June 2nd at 11:30 a.m. Eileen and René will then, be taken to their final resting place at Rideau memorial gardens.

If so inclined, a donation to The Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence in Kirkland in our parent’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
