It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Frederick ‘Bosco’ Fernandez on March 2, 2021, in Montreal, at the age of 81.

He was the loving husband of Genevieve Green, his childhood sweetheart, to whom he has been married for 54 wonderful years. Beloved father of Ruth and Shane (Goretti Andrade) and doting grandfather to Karisma and Felicity. He also leaves behind a sister Rita, sisters-in-law (Mary Fernandez, Joyce Fernandez, Philomena Fernandez, Barbara Green, Celia Lewis (Wilbur) and Popo Green, many nieces and nephews and their families as well as a large number of loving friends.

Frederick started his aviation career in Karachi, Pakistan working for KLM and BOAC (now British Airways). After moving to Canada he honed his trade at Canadair and General Aviation before joining Air Canada as an Aircraft Technician responsible for maintaining all aspects of an aircraft.

During his 30-year-career became a knowledgeable aircraft mechanical engineer, working on all systems of the aircraft including engines, flight controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, and landing gears. He was among those who were called to do new work such as the reengineering of the Douglas DC8 and the first landing gear change on the Boeing 767. He was also often sent to foreign airports to address mechanical issues that could not be handled by local staff. He was known for his disarming smile and friendliness. He was valued as a mentor by many of his colleagues.

An avid sportsman all of his life, he played field hockey, soccer, tennis, and golf.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions in Montreal a private event will be held in his memory. However, you can join us virtually to celebrate Frederick’s life on March 13, 2021 at 5pm Eastern time using the following link : www.livememorialservices.com/Home/ServiceDetail/11347

The family plans to have a memorial event to celebrate Frederick’s life when we can all gather in-person safely. The family looks forward to seeing as many family and friends as possible at that time.

The family thanks the many people who have already shared their condolences, sympathy and remembrances. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Frederick’s name would be appreciated to The-Make-A-Wish Foundation by following this link: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/pages/in-memorium-of-frederick-bosco-fernandez/
