It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved George Gaston Felix Fournier, 76, on March 25th, 2020 after a prolonged illness in Pierrefonds, Quebec.

George was born in Lachine, Quebec on July 5th, 1943. He married Judith Anne Taylor on May 4th, 1968 in Roxboro, Quebec. George graduated from l’Université de Moncton, New Brunswick with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce in 1980 and worked as a train master for VIA Rail Canada until his retirement in 1993.

George is preceded in death by his loving parents Florina and Gaston.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Judy; his loving children Gregory and wife Kerry, Kimberly, and Michelle and husband Frédérick; his treasured sister Nicole and husband Marc André; his cherished grandchildren Isabelle, Annika, Leila and Chloe; and his enthusiastic four-legged granddogs Bailey and Tini.

George was a cheerful man who loved to talk and who made an impression on everyone who crossed his path. With a spirited story, a ridiculous joke, or a silly face; George had a talent for making everyone around him smile. As a caring son and big brother, as a loving and supportive husband, or as an encouraging father and grandfather, George’s proudest accomplishment has always been his unfailing commitment to his family. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, making them laugh. In order to ensure that his children were loved and successful, George remained steadfastly focused on three things: family, education, and sports. No one could ever doubt the immense pride he had for his children and their accomplishments. When he was not encouraging his children in their sports, education, and interest; George could easily be found driving his convertible with his hair blowing in the wind, listening to the blues, cheering on his New England Patriots, and whenever possible, sitting at the end of the dock in Grand Cayman. We are all indebted to this hard working, kind, sensitive and loving man who never stopped dreaming.

A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date.
