In Loving Memory of George Klein

Peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Saturday, March 29, 2025, George returned home to be with the Lord.

Beloved husband of Lucy Klein (née Van den hoek). Dearest Father of Paul Klein (Natalie) and Audrey Heuvel (Dave). Cherished Opa of Hannah (Billy), Presleigh (Matthew), Catyra (Tommy), Lauren, Meghan (Daniel), and Heather (Keven). George was also blessed to have welcomed his first great grandchild, Adley, in August of last year. Treasured brother to Albert and Fritz; predeceased by siblings Tonie, John, Nell, Randy and Gerry.

Born August 26, 1936 in Oostmahorn, Netherlands, George was one of eight children – he had six brothers and one sister. He immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 17 in search of opportunity and a bright future. In Montreal, George became deeply involved in the Christian Reformed Church youth group which enabled him to travel extensively across Canada and the US, forging life-long friendships along the way. Some years later, George and Lucy met at that same church and were married in 1964. Together they built a life filled with love, faith and family. George was a hardworking man who dedicated himself to providing for his family. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures – expressing his creativity as an artist, spending his days in the garden, volunteering with various charities, nurturing a life-long passion for stamp collecting, and making memories with his loved ones.

George will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Though he is gone, his legacy of kindness, dedication and goofy humour will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

There will be a service to celebrate George’s life on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the First Christian Reformed Church of Montreal (52 rue Joseph Paiement, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9A 1J1).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to George’s favourite charity, Canadian Foodgrains Bank (https://foodgrainsbank.ca/donate/in-memoriam/), would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
