Gordon passed peacefully following a brave fight with cancer, surrounded by family at the age of 66. Beloved husband to France Lampron, he leaves behind five children, Tracy (Mark Haslam), Carrie (Alfie Hollander), Zachary, Nicholas and William, as well five grandchildren, Hayley, Aidan, Star, Amelia and Felix. Survived by his sisters Merna (Peter Rippstein) and Greta (Fred McNaughton), and predeceased by his mother Thora, his father Thomas, and brothers Harvie and Brian.

Gordon was born in Montreal. His mother had worked as a nursing sister in the Royal Canadian Navy and his father was a Merchant Marine, who had immigrated to Canada from Scotland as a young child. He had a simple childhood, raised in a home with a strong work ethic.

His first job was as a security guard in a tire manufacturing plant, and he worked his way up to eventually become Plant Manager. He later returned to his education and obtained a B.Comm with Honours from McGill University in 1996. Following his studies, he worked briefly in Human Resources, and finally as a production manager in the Aerospace industry until he retired at age 65.

Gordon enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing the guitar, and playing strategy games on his iPad. He often played board games with his children, but he never let any of them win. With a span of twenty four years between his eldest and youngest child, he spent most of his weekends shuttling them to various activities, and was a true Hockey Dad.

He will be remembered for his good-natured sense of humour, the joy he found in negotiating a good deal, and the tremendous love he had for his family.

The family will receive condolences at the Rideau Funeral Home on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 4pm to 6pm followed by a memorial service at 6pm and a reception.

Donations in Gordon’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
