It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Graham, who peacefully left us on Saturday morning. He was a beloved spouse, father, grandparent, sibling, and friend.
Graham will be dearly missed by his loving children, Carolyn Smith (Brent) and Dave (Jill) and his cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Jenna, Shayne, Ryan and Maddie as well as his sister, Shirley. He also leaves many cherished neighbors and friends from the Valois United Church. He is predeceased by his wife, Jean (née McCulloch) with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage and who meant the world to him.
Known for his integrity, selflessness and sense of humour, Graham touched the lives of all who knew him. He will forever be remembered by the kids of Valois that he coached in baseball and hockey for decades. He was also an accomplished jazz drummer who entertained many people throughout the years at local legions, churches, hospitals and charity events. He worked at McGill university where he forged lifelong friendships and had a special love for Ocean Park, Maine where he summered for over 80 years. In his younger days, he was a feared power-hitter in The Snowden Fastball League and was an avid bowler who captained his Valois Lanes Teams well into his late 80's. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who prioritized his family and would sacrifice anything to make his family happy.
There will be a celebration of Graham's life to take place at Valois United Church, (70 Belmont Avenue, Pointe Claire), on Saturday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments will be offered in the gym following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to CIUSSS West Island, Lakeshore General Hospital or Valois United Church, where Graham and Jean were long time members, and where Jean held the position of secretary, would be appreciated.
