Grant McCheyne, age 90, passed away December 29 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, integrity, and quiet strength.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Grant later made Canada his home and became a very proud Canadian citizen. He spent many years as a dedicated employee of Bell Canada, where his strong work ethic and reliability were hallmarks of his career.

Grant was an outdoorsman at heart. He had a deep love for nature and found particular joy in fly fishing—patiently tying his own flies and spending countless peaceful hours on the water with his brother Finlay. Music was another passion; he loved country music and often played guitar, sharing that joy with those around him. A loyal Montréal Canadiens fan, Grant followed his team with enthusiasm and dedication, a trait he was well known for. His sense of humor and steady presence will be deeply missed.

In December 1957, Grant married his love, Eleanor Hislop. Together they built a family.

He was a devoted father to Brenda (predeceased by her husband Chris) and Andrew, a proud Papa to Matthew (Jennifer), and a cherished great-grandfather to Ellie and Charlie.

Grant leaves a niece and nephews behind both in Scotland and in Canada. As well as his brother in law and sister in law Barbara and Laurence. He was predeceased by his parents Finlay and Catherine and his 3 brothers Finlay(Marion) Murray (Dorothy) Jack (Rita).

Grant’s moral compass, unwavering values, and example of hard work will continue to guide his family through the years ahead. Though he is no longer with us, his presence remains—still watching over, still protecting, and always remembered with love.

A private family funeral has been held.
