Hugh Somerville
1928 – 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Hugh Somerville, who left us at the age of 97½ — the 1/2 a detail he would be sure to remind everyone of.
Hugh was the beloved husband of 57 years to Sheila Dillon (predeceased in 2010). He was a devoted and loving father to Wayne (Gail), Kathy (Leigh), Cherill (Bob), Steven (Rhona), David (Tifa), Tracy (Mike), Jenny, and Jeff (Linda). A proud Grampa and Great-Grandpa, he will be dearly missed by his 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In his later years, Hugh was happy living at Residence Cambridge, where he formed meaningful friendships and was grateful for the kindness and companionship of those around him. During this time, he was also thankful to share a special companionship, happiness, and many special moments with Denyse, which brought him comfort and joy.
Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating Hugh’s life on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., followed by words from the family and refreshments in the lounge.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Hugh’s memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be sincerely appreciated.
