It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Amos on March 27, 2026 during his vacation to the Philippines, following a tragic accident. He had just reached his 65th birthday.
Ian was the beloved son of the late Keith and Joyce (Johnson) Amos. He is survived by his loving spouse, Sadmira Sehovic and her son, Kenny; his sister, Janet; and his son, Ryan McCartney and his wife Emma and their children Ella and Cole, of which he was very proud. He also leaves many cousins of the Johnson and Amos families, as well as many friends, in mourning.
Born on March 23, 1961 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ian moved with his family to Montreal in 1974 and spent most of his life in Montreal’s West Island, apart from several years in Ottawa and Winnipeg. Ian will be forever remembered as a very caring person, who always made everyone feel special and put a smile on their face, with his cheerful personality and hearty laugh, whether it was a family member, friend or perfect stranger. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, was generous in his actions and words, and protective of those close to him. Ian touched many peoples’ lives.
Ian always took pride in his career and its evolution and was respected for his professionalism, dedication and hard work. He enjoyed sports from an early age, playing junior hockey as a teenager and later with the Old Timers’ Hockey League. Later in life, he was able to travel with Sadmira and enjoyed discovering other countries and cultures.
Ian was looking forward to a new chapter in his life, enjoying time with family and friends, exploring on his motorcycle, travelling, volunteering and playing tennis.
Ian will be deeply missed by his close family as well as all who had the privilege of knowing him over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
