In Loving Memory of Inderjit Marjara
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Inderjit Marjara, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and pioneer, on December 19th 2024. Born in Lahore, India (now Pakistan), Inderjit immigrated to Canada in the late 1960s with her husband, the late Davinder Marjara, and their two young children. Together, they became the first Sikh family to settle in Quebec City, carving out a legacy of perseverance, faith, and success.
Inderjit was a woman of incredible strength and grace. Starting with almost nothing, she and her husband built a thriving retail chain of boutiques in Quebec. Her entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by her compassion; she touched countless lives by sponsoring relatives to Canada and helping them find opportunity in their new home.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Inderjit instilled values of faith, humility, and kindness in her family. Despite her success, she never wavered in her commitment to her Sikh heritage, making weekly trips to the Lachine Gurdwara to nurture her children’s connection to their roots.
Inderjit will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unshakable devotion to her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of love and selflessness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is survived by her two children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren not to mention countless family members and friends whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Boulevard des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, followed by Antim Ardaas and Bhog at Brahm Bunga Gurdwara Sahib.
“Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and faith. May Waheguru grant her eternal peace.”
