It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ingeborg Bühler (née Hägeli) on June 11, 2024, at the age of 93 years. Wife of the late Otto Ferdinand Bühler, she lived a full and interesting life, having grown up near Zurich, Switzerland during the Second World War as one of 12 siblings. As a young woman, she worked as an Au Pair in the home of a Swiss lawyer, who was responsible for sheltering many German Jewish refugees; an experience that developed in her a profound sense of social justice and a strong moral code.

After marrying Otto in 1954, she departed Switzerland for England, where they lived for 5 years. In London, Inge worked as a telephone operator and translator at the prestigious Savoy Hotel, rubbing elbows with the most famous names of the era. She and Otto then immigrated to Canada in 1959 and settled in Montréal, where she worked as a fashion model before giving birth to her first child. She devoted herself to motherhood, but also spent many years volunteering with organizations that cared for elderly and infirm individuals, developing many close friendships along the way. She was talented at knitting and crochet, producing intricate and detailed works by hand that appeared machine-made in their perfection. She was also a life-long animal lover and an ardent champion for their cause.

Ingeborg was a loving mother to Sylvia, Erik and Anthony, and to their spouses, Gary, Stephanie and Susanne. She was an earnestly devoted Oma to her four grandchildren, Daniel, Thomas, Ethan and Echo. She will be deeply missed by us all.

A Visitation is planned at The Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Blvd. des Sources in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, June 20th at 3 - 5 PM and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Inge’s memory are requested to The Theresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence in Kirkland, QC, to A Horse Tale Rescue in Vaudreuil-Dorion, or to your local animal shelter.
