It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Ezzy on the morning of April 23, 2025,
at the age of 90.
Jacqueline Carol Marie was born in her grandparents' home in Van Buren, Maine in the United States,
the daughter of Maron and Luella (Sites) Ezzy. She was the first of 13 children born to the couple and
grew up in Van Buren as well as in East Machias, Maine. Her fondest childhood memories were of the
smells and tastes of her grandmother’s cooking. She often recounted watching her grandmother making
homemade bread and soup in the kitchen of the two-story shingled house that she and many of her
siblings were born in. A home purchased by her grandparents shortly after they arrived from Lebanon in
1910 and a home they lived in all the rest of their lives.
Jacqueline spent the rest of her adult life in Canada where she married Richard Fitzmaurice and they
raised their 5 children. She enjoyed a love of cooking and took great pleasure in sharing her
grandmother’s recipes with everyone!! She also created countless new family favorites that have been
enjoyed by so many over the years. In addition to a “knack in the kitchen”, she had a “green thumb”. Her
ability to nurture plants, flowers and trees was simply natural to her and her gardens were proof of that.
If she wasn’t cooking up something in the kitchen, you would likely find her in her garden. In between,
she always found time for her family and extended family making thoughtful moments, activities, big
events, birthdays and holidays feel special in any little way she could.
Jacqueline, “Jackie”, “mom” and “Nanny” will be fondly remembered by her children Rick, Jamie (Joan),
Tim, Cynthia (Cliff), and Rob; her grandchildren Bill (Ashley), Joey, Jessica, Nathan, Connor and
Samantha; her great-grandchildren Joe and Summer.
She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters Greg (Diane), Patricia, Pamela, Marion, Tammy, and Mike as well as many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Lou, Mona, Gail, Carol, Kathy and Maron Jr.
A private celebration of life and interment service at Rideau Memorial Gardens will be held at a date
yet to be determined.
Special thanks to her “senior home family” at The Chateau Pierrefonds where Jacqueline spent over 8
wonderful years in the tender care of Monique and Pierre Laplante, a brother and sister duo who have
continued in the footsteps of their parents. They are supported by a hand-picked specialized care team
who are providing exceptional care and a home-away-from home for our most vulnerable.
Special thanks to all her “angels” at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence: doctors, nurses, PABs,
therapists, social workers, kitchen team, housekeeping and administration staff, and the countless
volunteers… A seamless team so dedicated to providing quality of life for each and every precious moment spent in palliative care.
In lieu of flowers, if friends and family desire, a donation can be made in Jacqueline’s memory to
