October 14, 1930 - November 10, 2017
Peacefully at home surrounded his family on November 10, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of Audrey Cassidy. Loving father of Maureen Duncan, Deborah Brandon (Paul), Linda Cassidy (Sam Onsy), Doris Cassidy (Kevin Owen). Dear Papa of Christopher, Amy, Jonathan, Laura, Caeley, Kyla, Erin and Megan. Great Papa of Adelaide, Serena and Rebecca. Brother of Ted Cassidy. Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Lilly May Cassidy. Siblings; Lillian Ruddell (Ernest), Genevieve Desrochers (Clarence),Raymond Cassidy (Nora),Clarence Cassidy (Dorothy), Rosemary Coffee (Ivan), Mary Rita Cassidy, Kenneth Cassidy, Doris Cassidy, Ronald Cassidy (Louise). Ernie will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may visit the Rideau Funeral Home 4275 Sources Blvd, Dollard Des Ormeaux, H9B 2A6. Friends may visit on Thursday, November 16, from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m Funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas a Becket Church, 4320 Ste-Anne, Pierrefonds, Qc, H9H 4Y7 Friday, November 17 at 12:00 noon. Reception in church hall to follow. Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society, Montreal or West Island Palliative Care. The family would like to thank the following: Ann Kilcullen, the Palliative care intake nurse at the West Island Palliative Care, CLSC Dr. E .Pantazopoulos, for her professional assessment and speedy efforts to ensure Ernie had access to the correct medication to ensure his comfort during this difficult time. Many thanks to the CLSC Palliative Care team: Dr. Neamt and the Palliative Care nurse, Carina Nielsen for their dedication to the the comfort of Ernie as well as the family during this time. Thank you to the many Home Care givers that allowed us to keep Ernie in the comfort of his own home.
