Passed peacefully on January 22, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Hamilton, Ontario on January 11, 1935, Jane was the only child of Thomas and Vera Hudson. She faced life’s challenges with dignity and determination and embraced adventures with enthusiasm.

While raising her four children, Jane pursued a successful career as a teacher and earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Sir George Williams University in Montreal. She was passionate about education and taught at both elementary and secondary school levels. She enjoyed sharing her love of English Literature, (Shakespeare in particular), with her students. Her professionalism was evident to all who knew her and during her career she was honoured with a "Certificate of Award” of a Hilroy Fellowship for the successful application of an important educational innovation.

A loving and supportive mother, Jane took great pride in her children and their successes and inspired them with her own lifelong love of learning. She had a generous and welcoming spirit and a keen interest in people and their stories. Much of her leisure time was spent in her garden or playing bridge or reading.

In retirement, Jane loved travelling but her favourite place was her cottage on Lake McGillivary where she spent many happy years with her husband Cliff, her children, grandchildren and close friends. She loved animals and the companionship of her dogs brought her great joy.

Predeceased by her husband Clifford Egerton she is greatly missed by her children Rob (Maura); Bruce (Jane); Doug (Alice); Laurie (Dennis); her cousin Lynn Kelly, her lifelong friend and companion Sue Legault; her grandchildren Alaina, Meaghan, Ashley, Danielle, Katie, Brandon, Cameron, Erin, Andrew, Rachel and Stephanie and her great grandchildren Elijah, Luke, Charlotte, Lillian and Aodhán.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Rideau Funeral Home in Dollard-Des Ormeaux on May 18, 2024 at 10 am.

Rememberances can be made through contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society.
