It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Janet Valerie (Cole) Brisson on October 15, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.
Janet was the beloved wife of the late Robert Brisson, and the devoted mother of Therese (Jennifer), Susan (Robert), Michael (Carol), Cathy (David), and Tara (Cary). She was the beloved grandmother of Trista, Thomas, Elizabeth, Ryan, Katie Rose, Daniel, Benjamin, Matthew, and Griffin and the cherished daughter of Jonathan Cole and Phyllis McAtee, and a loving sister to Gerry, Elaine, David, Rosemary, and Lori.
Janet was a teacher, principal, volunteer, organizer, adventurer, artist, caregiver, and a woman of deep conviction. She touched countless lives through her dedication to education, her creative spirit, and her ability to bring people together. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Throughout her life, Janet faced and overcame several health challenges with remarkable strength and grace. Her resilience was matched only by her unwavering faith, which guided her through both joyful and difficult times.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregivers and staff at her Lumia residence as well as the nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at Lakeshore Hospital and the compassionate staff at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Center for their extraordinary care and comfort during Janet’s final days.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at St. Thomas à Beckett Church, 4320 Saint-Anne St, Pierrefonds, QC beginning at 11:00 AM.
All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to attend and share in remembering her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Center through their Foundation website, in honour of Janet’s memory and the exceptional support they provide to families in need.
