Jennifer passed away peacefully at Lakeshore General Hospital from aspiration pneumonia.
She was lovingly surrounded by her sister, Melisa Hughes (née Melnyk), and caregiver Suzette Badilla Silla.

Jennifer is predeceased by her parents, Bernice (née Hallinan) and Ivan as well as grandparents, aunts and uncles. Jennifer has touched many people in her short years, especially those who have helped care for her. She will be missed by her second family and roommates at the Silla residence.

Jennifer experienced a chromosomal deletion syndrome called 1P36 deletion syndrome whereby the genetic information stored on that specific location of the first chromosome was lost. This caused severe intellectual disability, seizures, lack of complex communication as well as numerous complex medical conditions affecting her heart, lungs, circulation and digestion. Despite these challenges, Jennifer maintained a strong spirit that ensured her needs were met. When she felt secure, she would share her beautiful smile and contented voice that touched so many. Jennifer brought light and joy into our world as she taught us to listen when there are no words, to be patient until we can understand and to live fully in each moment without worrying about the past or future.

If you would like, donations to the Center for the Arts in Human Development (CAHD) https://www.concordia.ca/finearts/research/cahd.html would be appreciated
