He cherished and adored his 4 grandchildren to whom he was known as Grampa J: Annabelle, Victor, Malcolm and Julianna.
John was pre-deceased by his parents, Clarence and Ida Hillier. He is survived by siblings Judy (Lorne), Richard (Mary), Eric (Micheline), Gary, Randy and Bruce (Christine) as well as their families. He also leaves to mourn his mother-in-law Olive Hughes and sisters-in-law Janice and Susan.

John was a proud and dedicated employee of CN, where he worked for just under 50 years. John loved his work, and it, in turn, provided him with a sense of purpose, particularly after his diagnosis of neuroendocrine cancer 11 years ago.

As per the family’s wishes, a private funeral service has been held. The family invites you to celebrate John’s life with us at the Rideau Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and/or 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to either of the following charities would be greatly appreciated:
CNETS Canada cnetscanada.org
West Island Palliative Care Residence palliativecareresidence.com

John’s passion was taking care of and feeding his family.
