Jolan was born in Hungary on October 6 1934.

After surviving World War 2 as a young child, she would go on to develop a passion for art and eventually graduate Art School. In 1956, a revolution broke out in what was then Communist Hungary. This would be her chance to escape in hopes of finding a better life somewhere with more freedom and opportunity. After crossing into Austria, and spending three months in a refugee camp, she finally was able to cross the ocean by boat and arrived in Halifax.

With no knowledge of French or English and only five dollars from the Red Cross, Jolan worked many jobs to survive, and eventually became a Canadian citizen. She went on to meet her husband Joseph, and got married in 1967. She spent the rest of her life in Montreal until her passing.

She will be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness, as well as the care she took in whatever she did.

Although the early years of her life may have been challenging, in her later years she lived a relatively comfortable life which was well deserved.

She will be dearly missed by her family and those who were close to her. She leaves behind her son Jeff, daughter-in-law Nina, and grandson Joey.
