It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jose Adelino De Melo, who passed away suddenly on February 4, 2026, at the age of 67.

Born on October 12, 1958, in Ribeira Quente, Portugal, he later built a life surrounded by family, friends, and those fortunate enough to know him.

He leaves behind his sons Tom De Melo (spouse Vanessa Leduc) and Richard De Melo (spouse Bessie Cadayona). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Jackson and Tristan De Melo, who were the absolute joy of his life. He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers, sisters, extended family, and many dear friends.

Joe had a deep love for his dog Buddy, photography, and his boat. He will be missed by many. He was never capable of saying no when someone needed a helping hand and often—much to everyone’s amusement—shared his vast knowledge on everything from construction to electronics, with the list truly never ending.

Those who knew him will forever remember his favorite expressions:

“I see,” said the blind man, “HAWKEYE!”, “Now we are cooking with oil,” and the familiar calls of “JACKSON!”, “TRISTAN!”, and “Buddy.”

Visitation services for Jose Adelino De Melo will be held at Rideau Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 4275 Boulevard des Sources, Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Quebec, H9B 2A6, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
