<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Tetrault, on November 30, 2018 at the age of 97, one month shy of his 98th birthday. Joe lived a long, full life, and was always known for his willingness to help others. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, having served his country proudly as a member of the Royal Montreal Regiment. Joe landed on the beaches of Normandy, helped liberate France, and for his bravery received many medals, including The Military Medal (by King George VI) and in 2014 was awarded the rank of Knight of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour by the government of France. <br><br>Joe was the loving father of Diane Tetrault (Gary Davis) and cherished grandfather of Matthew and Liam Davis.<br><br>He was predeceased by his son David, who died as an infant and with whom he may now be reunited. <br><br>Joe was a friend of Bill, and will be missed by many of the friends he made and helped in the last 64 years.<br><br>He will also be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends. <br><br>The family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home on Monday, December 10, 2018 from 3pm to 5pm.<br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Soldier On to help support other war veterans in his memory, or to the charity of your choice. <br><br>The family would like to thank all of the staff and volunteers at the Ste Anne’s Hospital for their support and care over the last 7 years.<br></div>
