It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Joycelyn Mackay.

Joycelyn passed away peacefully on September 21, 2021. She was predeceased by her loving husband Reverend A. Ross Mackay, to whom she was married for forty-six years. Devoted Mother and Mother-in-law of Norman (Suzanne), Colin (Deborah) and Heather (Kerry) and Grandmother to her eight grandchildren. Joycelyn enjoyed a long and rewarding life. She grew up in Winnipeg and received degrees from University of Manitoba and University of Toronto. As a young woman, she had the great opportunity to live abroad and travel Europe, which spawned a life-long love for travel. Guided by her faith, Joycelyn committed her life to serving others, starting her career as a Social Worker in Winnipeg. After marrying Ross, she embraced her role as a minister’s wife, raised her family (and managed the household), and continued her fulfilling social work career focused on child and family services.

Her most beloved role was that of being a grandmother to Julia and Andrew Mackay, Aidan, Garrett and Allison Mackay, Liam, Lauren and Lindsay Howard. She would light up with every visit, conversation and interaction. In her later years, she would talk about them and with them as her pride and joy and her legacy.

Visitation and Service will be held at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, (514) 685-3344. The visitation is on Tuesday September 28, 2021 from 12:00 to 1:30 with the service following afterwards at 1:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, 265 Andre-Brunet Street, Kirkland QC, H9H 3R4.
